Chili Films' award-winning productions that have screened at prestigious international festivals include Indigenous dramas NIGHT CRIES, MY BED YOUR BED, and MY MOTHER MY SON and documentaries MY MOTHER INDIA, PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY: A PORTRAIT OF MERVYN BISHOP and THE FOUNDATION. BUCKSKIN won the Foxtel Sydney Film Festival Documentary Award in 2013.

Training, Coaching & Mentoring

Chili films offers one-on-one training and script development workshops. We provide guidance and consultation on all stages of film development as well as securing investment, distribution and network partnerships.

We support individuals to reach their potential and achieve their intended business and filmmaking objectives. We offer mentoring at any career stage to filmmakers.

CEO Penelope McDonald has taught film and media studies, including documentary and screenwriting, at multiple local and prestigious national universities. Penelope has an intimate knowledge of the Indigenous screen sector in Australia, having worked with many Indigenous filmmakers. She has been a board member of Centralian Senior College, the Australian Film Television and Radio School, and the Australian International Documentary Conference. She is currently the chair of Red Hot Arts Central Australia.

We also have a range of equipment filmmakers can use to upskill as well as rent.

Penelope McDonald as the inaugural Director of Screen Territory for over a decade, introduced a suite of initiatives and programs that have underpinned a growth in Northern Territory (NT) production levels and have built the creative and production base in the NT.

She has worked with Central Australia Media Association (CAAMA), Centrecorp and Screen Territory to deliver outstanding corporate results and messaging.
